1948 Labs is a container company around N product-focused organizations. Right now, N = 1 and that 1 is Happy Hours. 1948 Labs owns the technology used to create these products and uses infrastructural similarities between products to accelerate product quality and velocity.
Why 1948?
1948 is the year that Claude Shannon published A Mathematical Theory of Communication. This paper — and information theory in general — captures the core principle behind our company: collapse structural similarities in a way that minimizes redundancy. In short, we run the compression algorithm on software engineering itself.
Mission
Despite all the effort we put into our technology and the pride we feel in our ability to build high-quality infrastructure, our true aim will always be to use our skills to build the best products with the lowest internal costs. There is no “engineering for the sake of engineering.” We just happen to believe that the key to a truly great product is in its ability to handle the increasing real world complexities any valuable product must handle.
